Co-located Antenna Isolation
Enhanced isolation between co-located antennas is obtained
by using FWT Group antenna technology. The dielectrically engineered
FWT antennas have a curved and conformal surface. The curved dielectric
serves to reject energy, from other antennas, for angles exceeding
the Brewster angle. FWT antennas provide 3- 9 dB more isolation than
un-treated antennas.
A set of varying diameter FWT dipoles were tested for directivity and
gain for polarized and cross polarized pairs of antennas. The
calculated values for dipole coupling (From Kraus, Antennas) are shown
for a baseline.
The smallest diameter FWT, highest isolation antennas are shown as
the blue “X”, the medium diameter FWT
antenna is shown as the “Yellow Triangle”
The FWT treated antennas consistently provided a higher level of
performance by increasing isolation to over (40 dB) for antennas spaced
7.5 inches @ 2.45 GHz test frequency. This level of performance is
about 6 dB (4:1 in higher isolation).
The FWT antennas have a significantly smaller footprint
and higher isolation than un-treated traditional antennas. FWT antennas
are the perfect choice for repeaters and highly populated radio towers.
Active electronics, ASICS, and electronic modules can be directly connect
ed to the antenna substrate and antenna elements.
